Am just like you reader, a sojourner in this realm, seeking Truth, wrestling with God, and trying to wrangle some certainty from this grand mystery.
I have placed the Bible at the top of my hierarchy in this search for transcendent Truth. I am open minded about its interpretation and I will acknowledge what it reveals even when I am not in agreement with it.
Statement
I acknowledge that there is One God. Way more mysterious and way more open handed than any of us can imagine.
I acknowledge that there is Only One who qualifies to mediate between God and Man. The MAN Jesus, who died on the cross as the Lamb of God, taking away the sin of the whole world, who God raised from the dead and exhaled him above every other creature visible and invisible, whether angels, demons or aliens. In this MAN Jesus reconciliation to God has been accomplished and is freely offered to all creatures.
I acknowledge that the great God has never left himself without witness. In every generation, He has given freely of His gifts both corporeal and ethereal to all peoples, tribes, tongues including people of other religions.
I acknowledge the Bible (Old and New Covenants) as one of the Creators many gifts, through which we gain insight into the nature of His character and the life He desires for us.
I acknowledge that a good life is one that makes continuous effort to live out good virtues. First courage, then truth as far as one can see it. Then faith expressed in spoken confident trust and patience, then love expressed in kindness, patience and goodwill towards all people. Then wisdom and all the other good virtues one can discern, including knowledge, self-control, e.t.c
Ultimately I think everyone should take their chance with God, don't let church doctrines or contradictions in your own life turn you away.
